Remy

A wonderful dancer, teacher and choreographer.

The inspiration he has in class comes from different directions.
At Jam Factory he will be teaching jazz dance and a musicality class with Steven Coombe and the band on Friday night, right before the evening program.
We are pushing Jam Factory in the same direction we started, but once again we add a new vibe!
We keep on dreaming a Factory where jazz is a social dance and the world “solo jazz” doesn’t mean lonely, but much more than that. A Factory that is like a family gathering!

One O’clock
Jam Competition

One O’clock
Jam Competition

The first Authentic Jazz competition at Jam Factory:
after the preliminaries, the finalists will dance a Knock-Out Tournament in a small Jam Circle.
Two dancers at a time in the center of the circle will have a Jazz Conversation and the judges will immediately decide who will move on to the next round.
The music will be Jazz and each participant has a limited time to give their best.

Why do we organize an Authentic Jazz competition?
The competition is a “space” where you can dance freely and express an emotion among friends. The competition should not be an aggressive clash.
One O’clock Jam Competition is a special step of our own dance training. Preparing a competition pushes us to improve ourself and helps to make the swing scene stronger.
We do not need to prove that we are the best to the public or to the judges. This is not the right attitude. The judges’ opinion is limited to that specific moment of our dance and it is also a personal opinion.
Taking part of One O’Clock Jam wants to be a step in our dance journey and not the arrival point. A step we should do with a big smile on our face!

Choreography
Project

Choreography
Project

Jam Factory focus its attention to the music and social aspect of the jazz world.

This year we want to add something completely new, fresh, interesting and fascinating: a class dedicated to the creation of a choreography. We will experience what it means creating a number, stage movement, music structure and much more.

A unique collective and educational experience of choreography creation. In two hours, we will get the chance to work with Katja and Moe, two amazing dancers, choreographers and human beings.

The choreography, set up and staged in only a 2 hours, is then performed with the teachers on Friday evening.

Level: Intermediate and higher.

I know the basics of the Jazz Steps (Fall of the Log, Apple Jack, Boogie Back, Boogie Forward…). I have an idea of the Shim Sham.

I know most of the Jazz Steps  (Fall of the Log, Apple Jack, Boogie Back, Boogie Forward, Cross-Over, Box Step, Shim Sham) and Charleston. I have an idea of the Big Apple. I follow the class without being worried of faster rhythms.

I know the Jazz Vocabulary (Fall of the Log, Apple Jack, Boogie Back, Boogie Forward, Cross-Over, Box Step, ecc.) and Charleston. I can dance those steps easily. I know the Big Apple. I can follow the class even when the music get faster. I do learn quickly.
